About Harley Lunar

I've been living in raves and nightclubs since about 1998. In 2000 I relocated to London to reconnect with my family and explore the music/nightclub scene in Europe.

It was an inspiring time for music in London, pirate radio was big, The End club was thriving, Camden was still punk, Blur were better than Oasis, Prodigy were in the charts and Carnaby Street still sold Rizzla. I made a lot of wonderful lifelong friends in London. For several years I lived and worked between London and Ibiza. This is when I set up my own music management company, Lunartron.

While working with a bunch of different musicians from all different genres, I was always inspired to be creative. I had studied film photography at high school, so was familiar with SLR cameras, I even had my dad’s Minolta XG-1 that I used throughout high school. After using many different Canon PowerShot cameras, I finally got serious and bought a 5D mkII in 2010.

Every week I was deep in some different corner of the planet and I always tried to capture the people and the street culture of that country, searching for that ‘decisive moment’ is a never-ending Journey.

Now I find myself living in Los Angeles, deeply immersed in the rich culture here. Venice Beach is my dream place to shoot the street. Forever vibrant, forever changing, forever my muse.

I am always learning, always being inspired by street culture and technology, how it binds us and how it defines the time.
